DriveWise Double Award Winners

DriveWise takes fast lane

Congratulations to Lesley & Martin from The DriveWise Chatham Team. We are so proud to be a part of this organization.

DriveWise — which has expanded its reach from British Columbia to Nova Scotia and even Nigeria — was a two-time winner at the 2010 Barrie Business Awards Gala Thursday night.DriveWise Canada owners Lesley and Martin de Repentigny received the Arch Brown Entrepreneur Award of Excellence and the Mayor's Employer of the Year award.Presented by the Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce and the City of Barrie, in partnership with OLG and PowerStream Inc., the awards have been handed out since 2003, and recognize the contributions of local businesses to the community. DriveWise's Lesley and Martin de Repentigny had three employees when they started their business in 2004.To say the company has experienced good growth would be an understatement. Now they have hundreds of other employees working in more than 50 DriveWise centres across the world, including 27 in Ontario and locations across the country, as well as one in the United States and even one in Nigeria. After all that growth, DriveWise corporate headquarters has always remained in Barrie."It's pretty phenomenal. DriveWise has grown 40% each year for the last five years," company spokesperson Jennifer Lynch said, on behalf the de Repentignys, who didn't waste any time getting back to work after Thursday's gala. They jetted down to Orlando, Fla., Friday morning for a trade show."They are two of the hardest working individuals I've ever met," Lynch said. "They work hard, but also treat their employees very fairly. They offer profit sharing, we have company ball hockey and they like to share a little extra time with employees."The de Repentignys also inspire their employees."They are great mentors. They have amazing dedication and work ethic and give us the tools, as employees, we need," she said"They like to be in the forefront and are always providing new ways to get there," Lynch said, adding the DriveWise fuel economy program, in partnership with Natural Resources Canada, is part of the company's Eco-Driver Training Program.
